People can’t frame or categorize the music of Sonnymoon, and producer Dane Orr and vocalist Anna Wise like it that way just fine. Anna and Dane are writing music for people 100 years from now, so pushing your buttons and making you second guess what you know – or think you know – about the duo comes second nature.
Sonnymoon speaks candidly on growing up in music families, a creative process that involves forests of medicinal marijuana and painting with watercolors, and collaborating with West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar and the Teams’ upcoming self-titled sophomore record.
Paperclip Society had the opportunity to sit down with Anna and Dane before their performance at Live at the Pagoda on 3 March 2012. Here’s how it went down.

Every so often there’s a technology that shifts the foundation of society, and in the process, gives the mantle of power back to the people. Live stream via digital player is one such agent of change that leverages today’s level of social engagement, putting the power back in the hands of the user.
In the millennial, the seeds of change were planted within the intersection of instant messaging, e-commerce and telecommunications. Today everything is online, accessible and shared – old giants, like publishing, are on its deathbed because of the revolution of e-readers and tablet computing. Your voice in the blogosphere, and subsequently your influence, is more important than it ever was before. Sites like Ustream or Justin.TV are becoming powerful tools to broadcast yourself to a quickly growing audience of people just like you.
The next change that will have mainstream media outlets shaking in its boots is the first ever ground-up broadcasting experiment…

It’s hard to get grown men in spandex to look cool. I mean, dress-up Chris Evans in some star spangled swag and it doesn’t exactly scream super hero. But this first 2-minutes trailer proves the first Avengers flick might live up to the hype.
My thoughts below on watching the trailer this morning, one time. two times. It consumed a solid twenty minutes I’m ashamed to say..
- Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Captain America (Chris Evans) don’t look like complete tools in their super hero pajamas
- How did they fit the Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) CGI armor and green skin into the same massive shots?
- Does the end climax look anything like all the Transformer movies to anyone?
- Will Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) finally get a monologue outside the final 2-minutes, post credits, of each Avenger precursor film?
- Am I realizing I did not need to watch the God-awful Thor to understand the Avengers plot? Nooo…
- Will Channing Tatum do the body doubles for all the male actors?
- Will Mark Ruffalo be the first actor to finally keep the Hulk persona? I didn’t hate Edward Norton FYI.
- How many different entertainment magazines are going to make its May cover some special edition version where you can choose the pretty mugs of either Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, or Robert Downey Jr?
The long anticipated Avengers film is slated for release on May 4. Watch the HD trailer here

Documentary film maker Kevin MacDonald (Last King of Scotland) debuts his latest project of documenting Bob Marley. Few musical artists can survive recognition on a single name – Marley is surely one. Since his death in 1981, the legend Bob Marley has grown to a cult-like following. His appeal crosses all social and musical levels that only few can, leaving one to wonder if a bio pic will ever follow. Our suggestion to don the dreads would be Hurt Locker’s Anthony Mackie. Let us know what you think:
MARLEY will make its world premiere at the Berlin Film festival this month, followed by its North American premiere at SXSW in March. It will be released April 20, both in theaters and VOD.
